As a brave Pioneer you lead your people through a world that was devoured by fog—a world made up of countless islands, in which hope, craftsmanship and community must rise again. Establish settlements, discover lost tribes, unfold new technologies and face the dangers that lie in wait within the fog. Watch as thousands of Pagonians simultaneously work, trade and live, bringing your world to life.
As Audio Director, Philippe’s primary objective was to define a sound palette that reinforces the core experience of Pioneers of Pagonia. The game is designed as a relaxed, player-friendly experience that avoids punitive mechanics and naturally adapts to each player’s pace and style. With this in mind, his focus was on creating a gentle, calming, and rewarding sonic atmosphere that supports the overall mood and encourages long, comfortable play sessions.

Another key pillar for Philippe was the game’s intricate supply chains and the detailed animations within its production buildings. These systems allow players to follow the transformation of goods in real time, contributing to a lively and dynamic settlement, the so-called “Wuselfaktor.” To support this, he placed strong emphasis on the sound design of building animations, aiming to create audio that enhances the sense of activity while remaining clear and pleasant, even under frequent repetition. Avoiding listener fatigue while preserving richness and detail was a central consideration throughout the process.

To further strengthen the Wuselfaktor and bring the inhabitants of Pagonia to life, Philippe also prioritized the integration of voice-over. From an early stage, he advocated for bespoke recordings tailored specifically to the game, ensuring that every line reflects its warm, welcoming tone and contributes to a cohesive and inviting world.
